A number can have multiple operations
In Rio's bus system, complementary services can retain the line number and add a prefix. This allows you to identify a night, partial, variant or special operation without treating it as if it were identical to the regular line.
In BuzuRadar, the prefix is preserved to prevent different vehicle and service histories from being mixed.
Practical glossary
The definitions below describe how BuzuRadar uses each prefix. Consult the schedules and itineraries published by SMTR for details about each route.
| Prefix | Meaning in BuzuRadar | What to watch out for |
|---|---|---|
| SN | Night Service | Hours and days of operation. |
| SP/SPA/SPB | Partial Service | Served segment and turnaround point. |
| SV/SVA/SVB | Variant Service | Streets or terminals different from the baseline. |
| MR | Quick Service | Intermediate stops skipped. |
| S.D. | Direct Service | Connection between terminals with no scheduled intermediate stops. |
| SE/ESP | Special Service | Service created for a specific purpose. |
| LECD | Experimental Data Collection Line | Experimental service used to assess demand. |
Why does this change the map reading
Combining 474, SN474, and a possible variant as if they were the same operation can inflate the observed count and hide the fact that only part of the itinerary is covered. The opposite can also happen: searching only for the regular number may hide a useful alternative service.
Before comparing frequencies, confirm the full identifier, direction and route. In case of discrepancy between the map and the current plan, the official version must be checked and the inconsistency can be sent to BuzuRadar.
